Welcome to my Alife page!
I want to share and document some of my programatic attempts to explore the interplay of cognitive agents, and the evolution of emotional responses that I see and strive to learn more about as we journey together here on planet earth. I hope you’ll find my thoughts and work to be helpful, and that perhaps together we might learn even more.
Most the objects that I develop are based on an axiety and joy structure. One example I've always liked, written by Carlo Rovelli, is that the thermostat in our homes can be thought of as a mechanical cognitive agent. It is joyful when it's warm, and has anxiety when the temperature is not warm enough.
When we consider this example in the biological world, we could view hunger as a biological example of a cognitive agent. It's likely one of the first evolutionary biological cognitive agents. Hunger, is an example of what we might view as an intrinsic or hard wired agent because it's not something we had to learn to do.
